O.E.R Battling the High Costs of Textbooks! Along with her duties as a faculty librarian at the Northwest Campus, Kris Swank has recently taken on the role of Affordable Content Specialist, coordinating Library initiatives and collaborating with College stakeholders to locate, adopt, and manage affordable, free, and fully open educational resources (OERs). OERs and other affordable content can save Pima students hundreds of dollars each year in class materials, and help to break down financial barriers to attending and succeeding in college. Kris is currently participating in professional development regarding OERs, and assessing the current state of affordable content/OER at PCC.

Tech Tidbits

The end of the semester means it is time to return or renew your PCC laptop. If you will not be taking classes in Spring 2023, or if you have not yet enrolled in Spring 2023, your laptop must be returned to a campus library by December 19. If you are already enrolled in Spring classes, you can renew your laptop by bringing it to your campus library for an inventory check and renewal. You may be eligible to renew your laptop remotely--check with us via phone or LibChat for more information.

Are you looking for a book, DVD, or magazine that the library doesn't have? Are we missing the newest title by your favorite author? Recommend an item for us to purchase! You can use the form linked in our FAQ here: https://libanswers.pima.edu/faq/329223 to recommend items for your PCC library to buy. Keep in mind, requests will be reviewed by PCC librarians to determine the relevance and cost of the materials. If your items are selected, purchases take time to be ordered, processed, and added to the library collection. If you provide us with your contact information, we will even notify you when the item is ready for check out!
