Want to diversify your reading more this year?! Change it up and try a "Reading Challenge" and change the way you pick your books. Check out our "Reading Challenges" LibGuide and find a reading challenge that will help you think differently about what you read and why. We have a few new challenges for the start of 2023, but we also have past challenges that you can always revisit and try. Each tab on the guide will highlight specific challenges and guide you to books that are available here at our Pima campus libraries. All of these challenges are a great way to broaden and expand your perspective by reading books by authors of different cultures and color. Here's to a new year and reading new books! Happy Reading!
Black History Month
February is Black History Month. Join us in honoring and paying tribute to the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout history. Black History Month was created to give attention and to remember the events and people who have help pave the way forward and who have fought to stop oppression and racism in our country. Black History Month helps showcase facts and information that foster a deeper understanding as to why we celebrate the whole month of February.
What can you do this February during Black History Month? Check out a book or movie from one of the many displays in our campus libraries and learn more. Push yourself to read or watch something that may take you out of your comfort zone. Learn about the both the historical and present day issues of systemic racism and gain insight into these problems. Maybe even contribute ideas on how to confront everyday racism and to stand up for the rights of others.
Our "Black Lives Matter" Libguide is a great resource for current content and library resources that explore race and racism throughout history and today. All materials located in the Libguide are available for checkout or available electronically for students, faculty and staff.
A time to celebrate women and their accomplishments!
Join us in exploring women and their stories. Our "Women's History Month" LibGuide will help you to find library resources that feature women in history and in current culture. Take this opportunity to learn more about women, and appreciate their contributions to our world.

Tucson Festival of Books and Pima Authors
The Tucson Festival of Books is the weekend of March 4-5, 2023. Come visit the PCC booth at the festival, attend some author talks (you can always check the PCC libraries to see if we have books by the authors you follow!), and enjoy the festival experience.
This month, we are celebrating authors and writing content creators with connections to Pima Community College. Recently, PCC Writing instructor Dr. Sandra Shattuck worked with the libraries to create the Writing and Publishing Resources LibGuide. This guide showcases the sabbatical work related to writing and publishing completed by 4 different PCC writing instructors. Check out the guide, with a page listing some Pima authors with links to their works that we have in the library, here: https://libguides.pima.edu/writingandpublishing
