If you are using the OverDrive app on your phone or tablet to find and check out ebooks and audiobooks at either PCC or Pima County Public Library, it’s time to switch to Libby! The OverDrive app is going away in February 2022. The Libby app has all the same content as OverDrive, it just has a different (and easier to use!) interface. Check out our videos about getting started with Libby here: Downloading and Signing In to Libby and Using Libby to Check Out a Book

If you use the OverDrive website (https://pimacc.overdrive.com/)  to browse and check out digital materials, you’re all good! The website will continue to be an online hub for our popular digital content--it’s only the app that is changing!

Programs & Events

flyer for the East Campus Makerspace event. Flyer has images of gift tags and book hedgehog.

Join us on Tuesday December 7th, 10am to 12pm in the East Campus Makerspace (room 116) where we will be making upcycled Book Hedgehogs & wooden gift tags for students, faculty, and staff! The wooden gift tags can be customized with names, simple images, or greetings. The Book Hedgehogs are a fun and simple way to upcycle an old book. We will supply the books, instructions, and some help if needed. If you can't join us let us know and we can supply a Book Hedgehog grab bag for you to pick up at the front desk in the library (you need to be present at the event for the gift tags). Email if you have questions or would like a grab bag: ec-library@pima.edu. We look forward to seeing you there.

Focus on Library Support for students in PimaOnline Courses:

Distance Education librarians Keith Rocci and Rosanne Couston work with PimaOnline classes, helping students to locate quality information for their research projects.  Department Head, Keith, is embedded in Communication courses and Rosanne (rosielibrarian) works with the Social Sciences.  They reach out through email to dozens of classes each semester, toiling away in their mission to save students from the world of bad information and wonky websites, guiding them towards high-quality Library resources and more.  Do students need peer-reviewed sources?  Copyright-free images?  Access to a video for an assignment?  Your Distance Education librarians can hook you up!

Distance Education and Campus librarians are also partnering with instructors to help reduce textbook costs by finding low or no cost alternatives.  Rosanne is part of the Pima Community College team selected to participate in the Association of American College & Universities Institute on Open Educational Resources.  The College is working hard to bring cost savings to our students!
