Faculty Library Resources: Borrowing, Retrieval, ILL

Borrowing and Retrieval

How many books can I check out? Faculty can check out up to 25 items total.

How long can I keep materials I check out? Six months.

The item I need is at another campus.  Can I have it sent to my campus for pickup? Yes, you can select any campus library as a pickup location when placing a request. Delivery typically takes 2 days during the work week.

Where can I return library materials? You can return items to any campus library outdoor book drop.

Overdue Material

I have a hold on my account because of an overdue library book. What do I do?

The library will place a hold on your account if you fail to return an item on time. To remove the hold, you have two options:

  1. Bring back the overdue item and let the circulation staff know you have a hold on your account. Once you bring the item back, we will instantly remove the hold from your account.

  2. Pay for the item. If you can't find the overdue item, you can pay for it to clear the hold from your account. You will need to come into the library for a bill for the item that you will take to the Cashier's office. Once the item is paid for, we will clear the hold from your account. If you find the lost item within a year, we will give you a refund.

  3. If you have any questions, you can always work with the Library Department Head of the campus in which the book was housed.

My book has been overdue for three weeks. How much in late fees will I owe?

Pima Community College library does not charge late fees, so you will not owe any fees for returning an item late. However, if you fail to return an item at all, we will place a hold on your account and you will receive an email notification.

Interlibrary loan (ILL) Services

If you want a book (or other item) that we don't have, you can request it through our Interlibrary Loan service.

Some limitations:

  • To be eligible, you must be a PCC student, faculty, or staff member with an active PCC photo ID.
  • If the item is available from the Pima County Public Library, we will ask you to check it out from them.
  • It can take two to four weeks to get books from another library, so plan ahead. Articles that we can get electronically from another library will typically come in just a few days.
  • We may not be able to fulfill some requests. If so, we will inform you.
  • Here are the details on our Interlibrary Loan policy.

How to get started

  • Fill out this request form. We recommend that you use LibChat to work with a librarian to complete the form the first time you make a request.

Receiving the item and returning it

  • Library staff will alert you when your requested materials are ready.
    • For articles, electronic copies (PDFs) will be emailed directly to you. These are yours to keep.
    • For physical books, you will need to go to the campus that your requested them sent to.
  • Due dates for interlibrary loan materials are set by the library that loans the item. When you pick up the item, the due date will be clearly marked. Materials may be renewed only if the lending library allows.
  • You must return the item by the due date. You are responsible for any overdue fines.
