What are Open Educational Resources (OER)?
Open Educational Resources are teaching, learning, and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions. - William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

OER Training and Courses
- Certificate in Open Education Librarianship (U. Minnesota)The Certificate in Open Education Librarianship by the University of Minnesota is a structured and supportive professional development opportunity preparing librarians champion open education. - Creative Commons (CC) Certificate ProgramOffering training for educators, librarians, and GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) personnel, the CC offers in-depth courses about CC licenses, open practices and the ethos of the Commons.

- OER Fundamentals Asynchronous Training Series (OERizona)The OER Fundamentals Asynchronous Training Series was developed as part of an Arizona regional Open Textbook Pilot grant, funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s FIPSE program. This series aims to equip educators, librarians, and administrators with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with Open Educational Resources (OER). The four-part training provides a comprehensive introduction to OER, covering essential topics that support the adoption, adaptation, and creation of openly licensed educational materials.
- The OER Starter Kitby Abbey Elder. This starter kit has been created to provide instructors with an introduction to the use and creation of open educational resources (OER).
- The OER Starter Kit Workbook (Iowa State University)by Abby Elder and Stacy Katz. This workbook is a remix of The OER Starter Kit with worksheets to help instructors practice the skills they've learned along the way. It is freely available via CUNY's Manifold platform.
