HIS 101 - Online - Introduction to Western Civilization: Find Books

PCC Library Catalog

Continue your research by finding books (videos, DVDs, etc.) about your topic.

Search the Library Catalog

Tips for searching the catalog:

  • USE simple key words or phrases, such as battle marathon if you are searching for information about the battle of Marathon or peasant life medieval if you are researching the life of peasants during medieval times.
  • AVOID typing in long phrases. (See what happens when you type in "What are some causes of the fall of the Roman Empire?").
  • Find books at a specific campus or limit your search by type of resource (print, ebook, etc.) by clicking Modify Search at the top of the search results page.
  • Request books from another campus by clicking   at the top left of the book page.

NOTE: Search results will also include some of the 50,000+ eBooks [electronic books] that are available to Pima Community College students, faculty and staff 24/7.  These are identical to the print version of the same book, but can be read entirely online. To access any eBook from off campus, enter your MyPima username & password.

Catalog Subject Headings

Subject searching is more powerful than keyword searching.  It allows you to use a specific vocabulary to find books in the catalog.  To find a good subject, look at the display page of a book you already like, then simply click on the subject link to run a search.

We've already provided a list of sample subjects below for you to try.

Books at the Library

These titles are just a few examples of the types of books available at the Downtown Campus Library for the History 101 researcher.  If you cannot find what you are looking for, remember to Ask a Librarian.
