Broad Search for Journal Articles

  1. Log in to MyPima and click on the Library tab on the black toolbar.
  2. Click on the MEGASearch box (or use the MEGASearch box above) which will search the campus libraries for books and a large number of our article databases.
  3. In the blank search box, type a word or words related to your topic (such as Anasazi, domestic violence, teen drug abuse or whatever).  Then click the Search button.
  4. You'll see a long list of items. To narrow your search to the scholarly stuff, look on the left hand column and click on the box next to "Scholarly Journals (peer-reviewed)". To view an article, click on a full-text link. Articles can be printed, saved or emailed to yourself. The article citation will be included but check it for completeness and formatting by using the Citing Sources tab of this guide.

How Do I Know It's a Social Welfare Journal?

Once you've spotted an article that looks promising, you may be able to tell if it was published in a social welfare journal by looking for the journal title.  The journal title comes immediately after the author's name.

In the example below, the author is Lovata, Troy and the journal is called International Journal of Historical Archaeology, which is clearly NOT a social welfare journal.

In this next example, this article comes from Social Work Research, which IS a social welfare journal.
