Proquest News and Newspapers contains articles from 600+ news sources. Proquest is the company that owns and maintains this database.
Proquest databases will generate an MLA citation for the article you choose. Simply click the "Cite" button on the top right side of the page. Proquest has not updated their citations to the MLA 8 style, so after you copy the citation into your Annotated Bibliography, use the steps in the box below to make sure it matches MLA 8 formatting.
As I mentioned, Proquest has not updated their citations to the MLA 8 style. Luckily, we can do this ourselves. Here is the citation format we need:
CITING ELECTRONIC ARTICLES (found in library databases) in MLA 8:
Author(s). “Title of the Article.” Title of the Journal, vol.#, no.#, Date, pp. page range. Name of the Database, url or doi
From Proquest News and Newspapers, our MLA 7 citation looks like this:
"Courageous Canine Who was Victim of Dog Fighting Wins Top Title of American Hero Dog at the 2017 'American Humane Hero Dog Awards'." Targeted News Service, Sep 21 2017, ProQuest. Web. 30 Mar. 2020.
We do not need the format (web) or the date accessed for an MLA 8 citation, but we do need the article's URL. So I will simply DELETE the format and date accessed and add in the permalink for the article to get an MLA 8 citation.
Here's the updated citation for MLA 8:
