Chicago Style: Notes-Bibliography System

Chicago Style has two distinct formats for citing sources. Check with your instructor to verify which format you should use.

The Notes-Bibliography system is used in humanites subjects (including literature, history and the arts), and uses either footnotes or endnotes and a Bibliography.

Example:

The video game character Pac-Man was inspired by the Japanese folk hero Paku who was known for his large appetite. The game was Toru Iwatani's attempt to create a nonviolent arcade game, which would appeal to both men and women.1
