Open Educational Resources Subject Guide: Open Courseware

What is Open Courseware?

Courseware is digital ancillary materials to support a text, usually bundled with an electronic version of the text. These ancillary materials can include quizzes and homework problems, clicker software, and adaptive or personalized feedback to the student and instructor.

What is Open Courseware?

Increasingly, many institutions are offering open access to courses, which includes courseware such as lectures, presentation slides, and additional materials. One example is MIT, which offers open lectures on YouTube with links to syllabi, notes and reading lists, as well as assignments and solutions available on their website.
