OpenEd Guide: OER and Open Access

What is Open Access?

Open access refers to teaching, learning and research materials that are available free online for anyone to use as is, but they may not be revised, remixed, or redistributed. Open access (OA) is therefore slightly different from an OER, primarily in that the author retains the copyright of the work and can determine their licensing agreement.
