Search Strategy

I would be great to find some print books on your topics.

PCC Library Catalog

  • This is your top source for finding printed books.

  • The challenge:

    • we have about 330,000 items.
    • you are searching only for words in the book's descriptive record.
  • This link opens Advanced Search.

    • In the top box, enter the gods name and any alternative names, like this:
      • "Ahura Mazda" OR Hormazd
    • Limit the search to books or eBooks
      • Click Modify search.  (top)
      • Under Material type, hold down the  Ctrl key, while clicking Books, then eBooks
      • Search
  • Request a book. It will be delivered to a library of your choice. 1-2 business days.

    • Open the book's record

    • Check its status. It should say IN LIBRARY.
    • Click Request item (top left)
    • Follow directions to the end.
    • We email you when it arrives.

Google Books

Google Books

Google books has digitized millions of books from libraries and publishers. It makes selected preview pages available for many books (and the full text for fewer). It let's you keyword search inside books and see a bit of context on pages where your words appear.

You can search it directly, but Wikipedia often links here, too.

If you find a good book here, you can check if PCC Library has it.
