How Can I Get Books & Technology From the Library?

 Continue your research by finding books (videos, DVDs, etc.) about your topic.

Tips for seaching the catalog:

  • USE simple key words or phrases, such as battle marathon if you are searching for information about the battle of Marathon or peasant life medieval if you are researching the life of peasants during medieval times.
  • AVOID typing in long phrases. (See what happens when you type in "What are some causes of the fall of the Roman Empire?").
  • Find books at a specific campus or limit your search by type of resource (print, ebook, etc.) by clicking Modify Search at the top of the search results page. 
  • Request books from another campus by clicking   at the top left of the book page.


 

Catalog Subject Headings

Subject searching is more powerful than keyword searching.  It allows you to use a specific vocabulary to find books in the catalog.  To find a good subject, look at the display page of a book you already like.  Simply click on the subject link to run a search.
