STU 100 East - College Study Skills: Time Mangement

"Time management  is really a misnomer - The challenge is not to manage time, but to manage ourselves." The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

Time Management

Most of us struggle with time management here are a few sugestions...
  • DELEGATE
Do not accomplish tasks that can be easily performed by someone else or technology.
  • PRIORITIZE TASKS
    Treat procrastination as the devil!
  • SET GOALS
Measurable, short-term objectives that help you organize your work week.
  • MEET DEADLINES EARLY
Set your deadline prior to the actual assignment deadline.
  • STAY ORGANIZED
Adopt a method of organizing your week and stick to it!
  • MULTITASKING IS GOOD
Learn to multitask, but do not let multitasking lead to task overload.
  • FIND YOUR PRODUCTIVE TIME
Are you a morning person or an evening person?
  • MINIMIZE STRESS
If you are stressed, you cannot effectively manage your time. Do not pile on stressful activities without first working in non-stress activities such as exercise, meditation, and most importantly sleep!
  • SLEEP
The major cause of stress for most of us is lack of sleep!
  • LEARN TO SAY NO
Do not take on too many obligations.
  • REDUCE THE INTRUSION OF TECHNOLOGY
Technology is a useful tool if you do not let it intrude on your productive time. Make technology work for you, not against you!
