OBJECTIVES:
1) To learn how to access the Pima Community College's (PCC) online resources:
- Brief overview of logging into your MyPima account (important for accessing any of the library's online resources)
- Live Chat (Library - See below)
- Online Tutoring with virtual appointments (Learning Center)
2) To learn how to access and use the library's online databases, specifically Opposing Viewpoints in Context (OVC) and MegaSearch
- Basic search (including how to narrow/focus your search)
- Locate different types of sources (academic articles, newspaper articles, ebooks, interviews)
- Locate and read the abstract (the anatomy of an article)
- Email and cite the article you find
For OVC and MegaSearch, I will demonstrate an example of a search. We can then do a search together. After that, you will do a search on your own using your selected topic. You will then find 3 different sources and email them to yourself. I will walk around the room to help you. If time allows, we can discuss how the process went for you.
