ESL 088WG Research: Accessing Points of View Database

Accessing Points of View

First, we need to access the Points of View Database in order to find our articles.

Watch the tutorial video below to learn how to access and search Points of View to find Overview, Point, and Counterpoint articles.

The Overview Article will provide you with general information about your topic. It should have:

  • The history of your topic
  • Definitions of important words related to your topic
  • Some points and/or counterpoints about your article.

The Point Article and Counterpoint Article are two different arguments about your topic. One will be in support of your topic, and one will be against your topic.

Points of View Shortcut

Saving the Article

Use the tools menu section on the upper right side of the screen to email the article to yourself or generate an APA citation.

The citation function looks like a set of quotation marks. The email function looks like an arrow.

If you choose to email the article to yourself, enter your email address in the Send email to section.

Check your email to make sure you received the article. If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder. If you still don’t see it, resend the article.
