When you use AI-generated content in your assignments, they need to be cited in text and in your Works Cited section. Please see the following examples for citation pattern and how that translates into an actual citation. Note that there is no author; MLA considers AI-generated content as a source with no author.
Format:
"Description of chat" prompt. Name of AI tool, version of AI tool, Company, Date of chat, URL.
Example:
"Describe the symbolism of the scarlet letter" prompt. ChatGPT, 24 Jan. version, OpenAI, 12 Jan. 2024, chat.openai.com/chat.
In-Text Citation Example:
("Describe the symbolism of the scarlet letter")

To cite an image in MLA that you found through searching Google Images, identify the website where the image was originally posted. Cite the original website where it was posted - do not cite the Google Images results page. If the image doesn't have a title, you can create your own short description of the image. For the in text citation, use the photographer's picture or the title of the picture.
Format:
Artist Last Name, First Name or Organization Name (if available). Image Title or Image description. Year Created. Website Title, URL.
Example:
Almeida, Leticia. Photograph of pink rose bush, 2022. The Spruce, https://www.thespruce.com/formula-for-growing-rose-bushes-2132676.
In-Text Citation Example:
(Almeida)
