Consider the following five criteria:

1.  Accuracy - Is the information correct?

2.  Authority - What are the author's credentials?

3.  Coverage - Is the content covered comprehensively?

4.  Currency - Is the information current?

5.  Purpose - Is the content biased?

• Literary Criticism 
  Critical and biographical websites about authors and their works can be browsed by author, by title, or by nationality and literary period. These websites were selected by librarians!
• A Celebration of Women Writers 
  The Celebration of Women Writers recognizes the contributions of women writers throughout history. This website's goal is to promote awareness of the breadth and variety of women's writing.

Most contemporary authors maintain an official website where they can share news about publications, appearances and awards with their fans. Many also now have facebook pages and Twitter feeds.

You can find author interviews and book readings on YouTube.com. Use searches like these:

"Khaled Hosseini interview"
