      Citing Personal Communication

Interviews, Email, and Other Personal Communication

No personal communication is included in your reference list; instead, parenthetically cite the communicator's name, the phrase "personal communication," and the date of the communication in your main text only.

      Example...

Many of his students had difficulties with citing personal communications in APA style (C. Becker, personal communication, January 4, 2018).

      Example...

      A. P. Smith also claimed that many of her students had difficulties with APA style (personal communication, November 3, 2002).

        Evaluating Websites

      Consider the following five criteria:

      1.  Accuracy - Is the information correct?

      2.  Authority - What are the author's credentials?

      3.  Coverage - Is the content covered comprehensively?

      4.  Currency - Is the information current?

      5.  Purpose - Is the content biased?

If you're not certain, ask a librarian!
